Hey, Mr. DJ

I'm too lazy to post more pictures so here's a music quiz! The winner will receive something I buy while I'm on vacay in Cape Cod this weekend. Same deal as last time: The person who answers the most songs and/ or artists by Monday morning will be the winner. :)

1. Beats so big, I'm steppin' on leprechauns/ Y'all get hit with the boom boom

2. He drinks a whiskey drink, He drinks a vodka drink/ He drinks a lager drink, He drinks a cider drink

3. Nothing's gonna stop me but divine intervention/ I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

4. Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon/ Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?

5. Baby we was making straight A's/ But we were stuck in a dumb daze

6. I used to roll the dice/ Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes

7. Don't be offended by my frank analysis/ Think of it as personality dialysis

8. When I met you, I said my name was Rich/ You look like a girl from Abercrombie & Fitch

9. You don't know how you met me, you don't know why/ You can't turn around and say goodbye

10. Swear to shake it up if you swear to listen/ Oh, we're still so young, desperate for attention

BONUS! His goal in life was to be an echo/ The type of sound that floats around and then back down/ Like a feather

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Of Mice and Men

All summer I've been doing this thing in my head where I say, "This time in 6 months, I'll be at the Swamp watching the Gators crush FSU," or "This time in 3 months, I'll be in my 7:30 AM Physiology class." But now I can't believe that this time in 2 weeks, I'll be IN Gainesville! Where has this summer gone?

We decided to break up the move into the Condo into a couple of trips. This past weekend we planned to move my large furniture: dresser, desk, and bed. My Pops was totally confident that we could fit it all into the back of our Honda Odyssey. So confident, in fact, that he made a bet with my sister for a new pair of tennis shoes.

Spoiler Alert: My sister is getting a new pair of shoes.

The stinkin' box spring foiled even his best laid plans (I love literary allusions). So we ended up just driving up the mattress, bed spring, and some junk that was in storage. The landlords were there moving out their other daughter but I snapped a couple of pics for Moms.

Their oldest daughter was in the process of moving out but you get the gist. I can't wait to finish moving in and get up there!

Oh! While I've been in the process of purging my room from all of the crap I've acquired over the past 19 years, I've stumbled upon some treasures. Here's a little preview.

3 guesses?

Test of Time

Classic Converse All-Stars have withstood the test of time. While they may not be at the forefront of athletic shoes anymore, they are just as prominent today as they were 60 years ago. They come in hundreds of colors, materials, and styles. You can even design your own pair online and have them shipped to your door. The possibilities are endless. And younger kids have picked up on their appeal.

Ever since my brother started drum lessons at the beginning of the summer, he's been begging for a pair of lo-tops. He finally got them this weekend as he was doing his back-to-school shopping.

Too clean for my taste.

That's more like it! These are my Chucks from high school. I wore them nearly every day of freshman and sophomore year. These shoes have seen better days but they have character.

Oh gosh...

Here's a little side-by-side action so you can get the full comparison.

Rough.

Rougher.

Super rough.

Look at the size of those things!

Homeboy is only 11!

Operation SMITH: An Update

Last week I was confronting a major crisis. My closet was raining clothes everytime I went to hang something up.

But everything is all better now! Super Target was having a fabulous sale so I picked up about 40. But I was left with enough hangers to supply a large midget army.

Large midget army = Oxymoron

I never realized we were such hanger hoarders. But like I said, all is better now. I have big kid hangers and life can go on.

P.S. Thanks to Ownie for offering to buy me new hangers :)

Live and Learn

Congratulations to Ben! He was the grand winner with a grand total of ONE song lyric.

Another congratulations to Michelle who was the only other person to enter!

I'll take the blame for this epic failure of a contest. The lyrics were pretty obscure and difficult. But there's this thing called "google". Check it out :)

So here are the answers:

1. There's someone calling, an angel whispers my name/ But the message relayed is the same - "Bones" by the Killers

2. I'll be yours if you'll be mine/ I tried to change, but I changed my mind - "Mexican Wine" by Fountains of Wayne

3. You finally took my hand, you finally took my hand/ It took a nip of gin, but you finally took my hand - "White Trash Wedding" by the Dixie Chicks

4. If there's any answer, maybe love can end the madness/ Maybe not but we can only try - "Beautiful" by Carole King

5. Baby close your eyes and listen to the music/ Drifting through a summer breeze - "Little Less Conversation" by Elvis Presley

6. Put on these chains and you can live a free life/ Well I'd rather bleed just to know why I die - "This Time Around" by Hanson

7. Forget about your algebra and calculus/ You can always do your homework on the morning bus - "Nicest Kids in Town" from the musical Hairspray

8. Beneath the noise, below the din/ I hear your voice, it's whispering - "Miracle Drug" by U2

9. Got these four wheels spinnin' round/ Me and my two tote caddie gonna blow this town - "Cadillac Car" from Dreamgirls

10. We fell in love in the key of C/ We walked along down by the sea - "A Shot in the Arm" by Wilco

Better luck next time!
